Creating A Stronger Fence

If you are looking for the right security fence for your home, then there's good news. You will have a lot of different types and looks of security fences available to you. However, with so many to choose from, it can get a bit overwhelming. This article will cover some of the things that you want to keep in mind when making your choice.

Don't make it easy for someone to climb the fence

A fence that is easy for someone to climb over is not a good security fence. When security is what you are looking for, you want something that is going to make someone think that it's just too much trouble to even bother, so they end up deciding to keep going past your house. One example is to go with a wrought-iron fence that has decorative points along the top. These will make it very difficult to climb into the yard. 

Don't make it easy to cut the fence

You also want to have a security fence installed that someone can't cut their way through easily with tools. Wrought-iron fences are good in this regard. The thick iron posts that make up the fence can't be cut through the way a material like chain link can be. 

Don't give someone a place to hide

While many people like the idea of a solid wall or a solid wood fence for privacy reasons, these aren't good choices when you are looking for security. Instead, you are going to want to be sure you put up a fence that is easy to see through and that won't offer someone a place to hide. When they can hide, they can wait quietly and watch what is happening until they see an opportunity to either attack someone or break into the house. 

Don't leave an opening

A security fence isn't going to do you any good if it doesn't go all the way around the property and have a gate that is also secure and that locks. If you leave any opening large enough someone can fit through, then you are leaving a huge weakness in your fence. Also, keep in mind that the gate needs to meet the same specifications as the rest of the fence, such as being hard to climb, etc. On that same note, you also want to make sure the security fence goes all the way to the ground so someone won't be able to squeeze under it.
